INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY TEA AND TALK
12 March @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Clementine Churchill – The ‘Queen of Wives’
We are delighted to offer an hour long networking event of Friday 12th March between 11 and 12 for all our female members and guests.
This will be an informal Coffee & Chat (Tea and Talk!) where we will hear from Katherine Carter (MA, MRHistS, FRSA) the Property Curator at Chartwell, the home of the Churchill family. She is a leading authority on the private lives of the Churchill family, appears frequently in print and broadcast media, and speaks internationally on the subject of the Churchills’ lives and legacies.
Clementine Churchill, upon marrying her husband, was destined to live out her life in the public eye. For more than half a century she was vital to Winston not only as a support for him but one of his most trusted advisors and a champion of his over the course of his political career. It is perhaps little wonder that Churchill once said ‘My most brilliant achievement was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me.’ This talk will introduce the woman who not only witnessed the making of history, but was one half of the most important partnerships of the twentieth century.
We hope that you can join us to celebrate International Women’s Day and find out more about our chosen women’s achievements. We will have time for a Q&A and also the opportunity to share current experiences of how we can help forge a gender equal world?
By celebrating women’s achievement. By raising awareness against bias and by taking action for equality.
