Peridot Partners are currently supporting Hospice in the Weald to recruit a new Chair of the Board to take over in December 2020.

As you may be aware, Hospice in the Weald has been established for 40 years and is a highly respected charity who provide hospice palliative care to people across West Kent and East Sussex. They deliver their services with over 250 highly experienced staff and around 1,100 committed volunteers. It costs £8m per year to run the Hospice, and with just 11% funding from government, they are reliant on the support of the community to raise funds and income through their 25 retail shops.

They serve approximately 350,000 people in their communities and offer an extensive range of services. Over the last 40 years they have continued to grow, and their focus is on meeting more unmet need. To date, they have provided care for adults and people over the age of 18. They recently opened the UK’s first Cottage Hospice and this summer, will launch a new service providing hospice care for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

The current Chair is coming to the end of his term in December, so they seek a new Chair to work with an engaged and accomplished Board, and a capable and expert Chief Executive and Hospice Leadership Team. This is an exciting time to become the next Chair to oversee the delivery of a new three-year Strategy and Business Plan, and an opportunity to support an innovative and highly respected and successful community-based charity.

They seek a new Chair who is excited by the opportunity to support and enable their innovation and development and who has a commercial and entrepreneurial approach to help raise their profile. They need an inspiring and engaging leader who can help build strong relationships and work with multiple and diverse stakeholders to raise awareness of the importance of good Hospice Palliative Care.

The time commitment is up to two days per month and more details can be viewed on the following links:
