Sevenoaks Town Council will wherever continue to support our local community, particularly in these difficult times. For this reason, the Town Council created a £30,000 Community Resilience Fund for those who are putting in place voluntary arrangements to help those in need. The Town Council will be making speedy decisions to ensure that these grants are provided when needed. Within a week of launching the scheme the Town Council has provided:
£2,000 to Age UK Sevenoaks and Tonbridge.
The grant will be used to provide an emergency shopping fund for older people in Sevenoaks who are housebound and cannot access money to pay for essentials. It will also go towards covering the cost of regular phone calls to clients as well as helping to pay the expenses of volunteer befrienders who are supporting local older people who are housebound and lonely.
£780 to PSB Breastfeeding CIC
The grant will be used by PSB Breastfeeding to continue to support parents who are struggling with breastfeeding. Due to the Coronavirus equipment on loan cannot be returned and additional equipment is needed. £780 will pay for 5 breast pumps and 30 disposable breast milk collection kits to be used with the pumps. This is in addition to the grant of £1400 from the Council in September 2019 to support their volunteers.
For those wishing to apply for a grant from this Fund they should complete the Sevenoaks Town Council Grant Application Form on its website sevenoakstown.gov.uk
Traditionally applications have been reviewed twice a year, however bearing in mind the circumstances applications will now be reviewed as swiftly as possible as and when received. It is also noted that applicants may not be able to comply with providing all the information normally required. Applicants are asked to complete as much information as possible and forward to Sevenoaks Town Council for consideration.
