Sevenoaks Youth Council supports Friends for Families over their two Year Term
The Sevenoaks Youth Council is thrilled to announce that they will be supporting Friends for Families, a local organization that works with Children’s Services to support families facing financial hardship within the community.
This collaboration marks a significant commitment by the Youth Council to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
Founded in 2009 to amplify the voices of young people in community decisions, Sevenoaks Youth Council comprises 18 young people representing secondary schools from across Sevenoaks Town. The Youth Council’s aim is to support Friends for Families through a series of small activities over the next two years.
Friends for Families is a local charity run entirely by a dedicated group of volunteers who aim to provide vital relief to those families in the Sevenoaks and Dartford Districts in desperate need of a helping hand.
They specifically work to provide items, goods and services that cannot be provided by statutory services or agencies, and as such are often a means of last resort for vulnerable families living in severe poverty.
The charity works with Children’s Services, providing items that they have assessed the families as desperately needing but being unable to afford, which allows them to directly respond to the needs of the family.
A representative of Friends for Families said:
“Friends for Families (Sevenoaks) are delighted to have been chosen as Sevenoaks Youth Council’s charity and look forward to working with them over the next two years”.
