Squerryes Vineyard in Westerham are delighted to announce they have been awarded a gold medal and Best in Class in this year’s Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC) for their 2014 Brut Magnum in the category of Vintage Brut.
Announced at last night’s award ceremony at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London, Henry Warde, owner of Squerryes Winery and Squerryes Estate said:
I’m delighted that we have won a best in class at the CSWWC National Champion for a seventh time in 10 years of the competition running. It’s known in the industry as being the most rigorous competition and cements our status as being one of the leading single estate sparkling wine producers in the UK. It’s an honour to be included with the world’s best sparkling wine makers and for our wines to be recognised in this manner.
Described by Decanter Magazine as “mouth wateringly moreish”, the 2014 vintage Brut has already won a gold medal and ‘Best in Class’, for an English sparkling wine in magnum in the 2020 World Championships of Champagne and Sparkling Wine. Aged on the lees for 72 months the extended contact with the lees has created a stunning wine that is worthy of the praise and acclaim it continues to receive. It has a wonderful freshness followed by a rich intensity of orchard fruits and the signature Squerryes smooth finish.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the CSWWC is the only international sparkling wine competition judged by industry experts, endorsing provenance and promoting world-class sparkling wines. The competition was judged blind to ensure complete impartiality.

This event will see the Vineyard’s ambassadors take you on a journey to learn about the 300-year-old Squerryes Estate. You can taste three of the vineyard’s signature wines while enjoying a cheese and charcuterie board.
Earlier this year, Squerryes also won a coveted AA rosette for its outstanding Winery Restaurant which offers a seasonal, estate-led menu, including a fabulous set menu for Christmas group bookings.
