THERE’S STILL TIME TO BOOK HOSPICES OF HOPE’S FINAL TALKING GARDENS TOUR ON 18th JUNE!

Hospices of Hope Founder, Graham Perolls, invited garden lovers to accompany him on a rare series of exclusive tours and talks at three unique gardens in West Kent…..

The first visit took place at the St Clere Estate, Kemsing, on 26th April. The party of 50 people joined Graham and St Clere Estate Foreman, Martin Platt, to learn about his 32 years working in the 17th century country estate gardens – which also included the kitchen and herb gardens. As Martin’s “behind the scenes” account unfolded, the party were enthralled to have the rare opportunity to learn how the St Clere gardens were made famous as a location for many TV shows and films, including Agatha Christie’s ‘Mirror Crack’d’ starring Elizabeth Taylor! Martin also revealed juicy facts about the history of St Clere over the last 250 years as well as lots of practical detail about the maintenance of the estate! Delicious refreshments (kindly provided by Clare’s Cuisine) followed. An absolutely perfect afternoon!

The second visit was to Reuthe’s – The Lost Garden of Sevenoaks on Thursday 16th May. Despite rain in the morning, the sun came out! Keen supporters of Hospices of Hope joined Graham and Reuthe’s owner, Claire Price, in exploring the magical 11-acre rare species woodland, which hosts one of the country’s best selection of specialist rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias. It was a great opportunity to explore this little-known paradise as well as enjoy delicious refreshments. An absolute must for garden lovers and botanists alike!
