The Sevenoaks and District Chamber of Commerce are delighted to announce our first week long work experience event for students age 16 plus from across the district.  The purpose of the work experience week is to offer local businesses the opportunity to showcase different career paths to local students without the need to commit to a full day or week of work experience.  Businesses will be offering a selection of half day, one or two hour presentations and round table discussions to provide students with a wide variety of career options to consider.

We are regularly approached by students asking for help with work experience, but often our local businesses aren’t able to commit the time for a full week. This initiative will provide businesses the opportunity to engage with local schools and students easily within a manageable timeframe.

We have been overwhelmed with the support from Chamber Members and we can confirm the following businesses have already agreed to take part:

FM Conway
Biggin Hill Airport
Rockdale
Welham Jones
Handelsbanken
Lakeview Accountants
Wealden Property Services
Thackray Williams Solicitors
Specsavers
7 Hotel Diner
Wagamama
Sevenoaks Town Council
Sevenoaks District Council
Horncastles
LinkedIn to Success
Spotlight Media
Ten2Two
Sevenoaks Summer Festival

FM Conway who are supporting this initiative have vast experience of work experience programmes and will be assisting the Chamber of Commerce in the organisation, administration and compliance of the week long activities.

Schools are being approached directly to ask students to apply for the week and if you know of any young students who may like to participate, please do ask them to get in touch with us at info@sevenoakschamber.com.

We are hopeful the ‘Work Experience Sevenoaks’ week will provide students with an opportunity to see what local career opportunities are available throughout the District, and encourage smaller businesses to get involved with local schools.

Our thanks go to FM Conway and Ten2Two Flexible Recruitment for helping with the planning and organisation of the event. To find out more contact info@sevenoakschamber.com.
